Eponic Mobile

Challenge:
The Portland Business Alliance approached Eponic in 2002 to create a better system for monitoring and tracking their Sidewalk Ambassador Program. The ambassadors recorded their daily activities with pen and paper, creating a time consuming backlog of double entry and tedious work to compile and generate reports.

Approach:
Eponic implemented a handheld PDA computer solution to replace the manually written logs. The system was designed to automatically log time, date, location and was driven by a very simple menu driven interface. Ambassadors could quickly enter detailed notes via the system's built in handwriting recognition.

Information would be transferred at the end of the shift to a password protected intranet site. Managers could access and compile reports the next day from any computer with Internet Explorer and internet access.

Results:
The initial reaction was overwhelming. Jodi Jordan, Marketing Manager for the Portland Business Alliance, "The Eponic Mobile System eliminated a huge backlog and a ton of double entry work." But this was just the tip of the iceberg, having immediate access to the log data and online reporting enabled BID managers to assess employee performance, workflow, and quickly identify and correct problem areas.
