Mapping Criminals out of the Downtown

January 15, 2010

The City of West Palm Beach has implemented an innovative program to "map" repeat offenders out of the downtown. Repeat criminals can be excluded from the downtown core for a period of 90 days and Eponic is working with the West Palm Beach Police Department and the West Palm Beach Downtown Development Authority (DDA) to create handheld software to assist in this mission.

The software combines Eponic’s powerful database toolset with handheld computers or smart-phones to identify suspects on the watch list. For example, the Eponic software can quickly query all: White Males, age 30 to 45 with dragon tattoos on their neck. The system will display all pertinent information, criminal history or interactions and display their photo on the phone. Lt. Maale, West Palm Beach Police Department, "The idea is simple, we share arrest and BOLO (Be On the Look Out) info with the DDA’s Security Ambassadors so they can assist us in targeted crime suppression and fugitive location."
